Audit process

From intake folder to findings briefing

A clear sequence keeps expense claim audits from drifting into the next close. Here is how a typical full-cycle engagement moves.

Team reviewing documents during a working session
  1. Scope conversation

We confirm claim categories, the review window, sampling vs. full review, and whether paper archives require an on-site day. You receive a short engagement letter with fee range and dates.

  2. File intake

Your AP contact sends the policy version in force, the claim export, and receipt access. We check completeness within two business days and flag missing fields before testing starts.

  3. Testing

Reviewers match receipts, check limits and approvals, scan for duplicates, and note gray-area judgments. Questions go to your named finance contact on a shared log — not scattered email threads.

  4. Draft findings

You see exceptions with clause references and a chance to correct facts. Severity tags help controllers decide what to escalate to managers versus process tweaks inside AP.

  5. Final pack and briefing

The closing pack includes method notes, the exception log, clean-claim examples, and a briefing with your finance lead. Optional manager coaching can follow if patterns point to approval habits.
